'Gone Skiing' Fund Raising Event

It is with great pleasure that through the generous support of all who attended, donated or sponsored we can confirm the ‘Gone Skiing’ Fund Raising Party in aid of Jo Willoughby raised just under £24,000 last Friday evening.

The event ran without a hitch and the money rolled in for Jo.  The marquee looked amazing with the grounds of The Star turned into Mount Harome for the night, there was even 40 tonnes of real snow shipped in from sponsors Sno!zone in Castleford.  The evening started with a great interview of Jo by Eurosports ex-British Champion mogul skier Hugh Hutchison where Jo explained to the gathered crowd of 147 supporters how she felt confident that she would return from Whistler with medals around her neck if only she could raise the cash to get there.  She needn’t have worried.  The auction of promises was a marathon effort both from auctioneer David Duggleby who held the audience and did the business and from the audience itself.  The amazing list of auction prizes went under the hammer and the total mounted up.  A full list of all prizes and their gifters will be posted here soon.

The target has been reached and so now Jo can concentrate on her busy training schedule in order to bring back those Paralympic medals.  Jo was at a loss to find a way of communicating just how astonished she was to have part of her dream realised.  “A Thank you isn’t really enough and I will repay you all with results on the mountain in Whistler next March”.

So thank you indeed.  Jo is one of the most inspirational people we have met and thanks to all those who took part she is now well on her way.
